Untethered, wild, mad
My thoughts drown in the dark or are drawn to the stars
Ocean floor or the skies above
I look for little cracks to pull it all apart
I don't color inside the lines
It's smudges and torn pages
I don't fit inside a box
It's dissent and sand storms
I will tear your multiple choice papers
Darling, I make up my own tests
I will risk everything, put my life on the line, fall into an abyss if I have to
Just so that I can be me
Untethered, wild, mad
Not elegant, not coherent, not always sensible
All that's left of me are my thoughts
Sit beside me and I will listen to you battling it
I will play the trumpet of victory if your thoughts are sharp enough to cut mine
Don't waste a boundary line around me
I carve doors on the edges
Don't build a box for safety
I want to burn it all
Don't make my options your business
I don't play by the rules
Untethered, wild, mad
All that's left of me are my thoughts
